Hi Ken. I'm not a Social Entrepreneur either. No surprise there, as they're apparently few and far between.

Ashoka apparently spots and enables them. Apparently you have enabled them. If you're not a social entrepreneur, are the people that run Ashoka?

Anyway, I appreciate you taking a stance like that as I can see the term being blatantly overused. I wonder what the side effects of overuse might be.

Might the trendiness of the word actually encourage people to try more revolutionary things that have a social purpose? Could the popularity of the word actually be a good sign?

I whole-heartedly agree that 'earning' instead of just 'learning' makes one worthy of the title.

I also think that if someone decides to learn such a thing, they've already said something to the world. Something like, "I'm trying to help." Also, learning through Uni...along with the networking opportunities...is going to offer such a student many opportunities to become a social entrepreneur for real!

Anyway, you might be able to tell from my rambling that I am still not really sure who is and who isn't...and not 100% convinced that you're not ;-) But it's not really that important as you've implied, and as long as things are getting done I'm happy.

All the best/JD
