We are happy to announce a new initiative that will bring
together people interested in the use of mobile communications for social
benefit: The ShareIdeas.org Webinars
In the Webinars, community members will present their practices and experiences
in a video talk, and then participate in an online chat with fellow members of
the ShareIdeas site. The idea is to share ideas!
Our first Webinar, "Applying mobile technology in the global conservation and
development effort", will take place in early October 2007. Ken Banks,
founder of kiwanja.net, will deliver the first video keynote talk on the impact
of mobile phones in the work of NGOs. Ken will highlight the many uses of mobile
technology in conservation and development work - including health, education,
wildlife conservation and economic empowerment - and look at some of the
solutions available, including
FrontlineSMS, his own
text messaging platform which was recently used to monitor the Nigerian
elections
