We are happy to announce a new initiative that will bring together people interested in the use of mobile communications for social benefit: The ShareIdeas.org Webinars

In the Webinars, community members will present their practices and experiences in a video talk, and then participate in an online chat with fellow members of the ShareIdeas site. The idea is to share ideas!

Our first Webinar, "Applying mobile technology in the global conservation and development effort", will take place in early October 2007. Ken Banks, founder of kiwanja.net, will deliver the first video keynote talk on the impact of mobile phones in the work of NGOs. Ken will highlight the many uses of mobile technology in conservation and development work - including health, education, wildlife conservation and economic empowerment - and look at some of the solutions available, including FrontlineSMS, his own text messaging platform which was recently used to monitor the Nigerian elections
