Conversation Between Trees

Project

A Conversation Between Trees (The Dark Forest) was a 2009-10 Anglo-Brazilian art and education project exploring mobile sensor technology in the natural environment, run by Active Ingredient in the UK and Estudio Movil Experimental in Brazil. School groups from Djanogly Academy in Nottingham and Escola Camilo Castelo Branco in Rio de Janeiro used wearable sensors to record humidity, temperature, sound and other data in Sherwood Forest and the Tijuca Atlantic Forest respectively, sharing photographs, audio, video and findings through a joint online space, and developing artworks that reflected on the past, present and future of both forests amid climate change.
