The High Authority of Audio-visual and Communication (HAAC) of Togo has criticised the use of SMS in Togo’s 2007 election. In a watershed decision the High Court denounced the use of short messages by a member of the RPT, the ruling party in Togo. According to the HAAC, television, radio broadcasting and newspaper adverts are the only legal means political parties may use to access the voting public.
