M4Girls was a pilot project by Nokia, non-profit Mindset Network and South Africa’s Department of Education that loaded Nokia 6300 handsets with educational content aimed at improving Grade 10 girls’ performance in mathematics. Piloted in two South African schools, the handsets gave participating students access to educational games and other material built around the national curriculum, part of a wider push to turn mobile phones into everyday learning tools for students who already carry them.
