Nokia Recycling

Article

A Nokia press release on a global consumer survey of 6,500 people across 13 countries, including the UK, USA, China, India, Nigeria, Indonesia and Brazil, which found that only 3% of people recycle old mobile phones despite most owning several unused handsets. Nokia’s Markus Terho said awareness of take-back and recycling programmes remained low, and the company estimated that if every mobile owner returned just one unused device, it could save 240,000 tonnes of raw materials and cut greenhouse gas emissions by an amount equivalent to taking four million cars off the road.
