Un Wireless Tech

Report

‘Wireless Technology for Social Change: Trends in Mobile Use by NGOs’, by Sheila Kinkade and Katrin Verclas of MobileActive.org, published by the UN Foundation-Vodafone Group Foundation Partnership in 2008 as part of its Access to Communication Publication Series. Surveying NGO use of mobile technology worldwide, the report profiles case studies across global health — including HIV/AIDS care in South Africa, connecting remote health workers in Uganda, and public health data access in Kenya and Zambia — and humanitarian assistance, such as delivering food aid to Iraqi refugees in Syria and emergency communication in Peru and Indonesia.
