Report
A Center for Global Development working paper (No. 223, September 2010) by Jenny Aker, Christopher Ksoll and Travis Lybbert reporting a randomised evaluation of Project ABC in Niger, in which adult students learned to use mobile phones as part of a literacy and numeracy class run with Catholic Relief Services. Students in ABC villages showed substantial additional gains in numeracy, though effects on literacy were less clear, and gains were stronger among younger students and still visible six months later. The paper is 38 pages long.
