The World Bank’s 2009 edition of Information and Communications for Development, subtitled ‘Extending Reach and Increasing Impact’, examines how ICT is changing relationships among people, governments and businesses, particularly in developing countries. It focuses on mobile and broadband connectivity, the development impact of high-speed internet and policy options for expanding broadband networks, and considers convergence between telecoms, media and computing. It also sets out a framework for e-government, reviews country experiences with policies that support local IT and IT-enabled services industries, and closes with indicator tables covering 150 economies.
