With more than 2,000 marine species endangered and 30% of fish stocks overexploited or depleted, Friend of the Sea have launched an SMS service which lets you find out whether the fish you are about to buy has come from a sustainable source. Friend of the Sea is an NGO which offers a main certification scheme for products from sustainable fisheries and aquaculture. It is the only scheme in the world covering both wild caught and farmed seafood (offshore or inland) providing a unified logo for all certified seafood products.
