Report
A June 2009 paper by Michael Futch and Craig McIntosh evaluating the introduction of the Grameen/MTN Village Phone product in Rwanda. Following 378 communities, with a baseline survey in May-June 2006 and a follow-up in August-September 2007, the authors find that access to phones rose but that there were no significant gains in prices or consumption. The 42-page paper is an early evaluation of what the village phone model could and could not deliver for rural households.
