Report
A 2010 report by the GSMA and the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women, prepared with Vital Wave Consulting, on the gap between men’s and women’s mobile phone ownership in developing countries. It finds that women are 21 per cent less likely than men to own a phone (37 per cent in South Asia), a gap of around 300 million women, and estimates that closing it could be worth about US$13 billion a year in additional operator revenue. The research surveyed more than 2,000 women in Bolivia, Egypt, India and Kenya and modelled 149 countries.
